NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday greeted citizens on the occasion of Diwali.
“Wishing everyone a Happy Diwali! May this festival further brightness and happiness. May everyone be prosperous and healthy,” the Prime Minister tweeted.

He had urged people on Friday to light a diya as a mark of gratitude towards our soldiers who fearlessly protect the nation.

“This Diwali, let us also light a Diya as a #Salute2Soldiers who fearlessly protect our nation. Words can’t do justice to the sense of gratitude we have for our soldiers for their exemplary courage. We are also grateful to the families of those on the borders,” he had said.
Like every year, the Prime Minister is likely to celebrate Diwali with troops.
In a separate tweet, he also paid tribute for former PM Jawaharlal Nehru on his 131st birth anniversary.
