NEW DELHI: A group of Kashmiri Pandits unified by a dream across a few continents on Monday launched the ‘Global Kashmiri Pandit Business Foundation‘.
The foundation will serve as a common platform for Kashmiri Pandit entrepreneurs living anywhere in the world to connect with each other and support any business to take it to the next level of excellence.
Talking about the foundation, its founder and director DK Bakshi said, “There was a need to create a platform for Kashmiri Pandits scattered all across the globe after they took a while to pick up the threads from a hopeless situation 30 years back. The foundation commits itself to nurture entrepreneurship among Kashmiri Pandits towards creating wealth and jobs for the global community.”
The foundation was launched on October 22 as the date goes back in the history when the Kabali tribals backed by the Pakistan army raided Kashmir.
“October 22, 2020 would be known as a historical day for Kashmiri Pandit community in the world where a legacy is born today,” the foundation said in a statement.
“With new vistas opening in the current world, young and not so young Kashmiri Pandits needed something different to fight for their survival and it can only happen if the community is prosperous around the world. So this foundation came up keeping that in mind,” said the statement.
The foundation members include Ash Raina from Brisbane, Australia; DK Bakshi from Thailand; Jyotsna Fotedar from Gurugram, India; Ravi Kachroo from Bangalore; Vinod K Pandita from Gurugram & Vidya Bhushan Dhar from Toronto, Canada.
The group was launched through a video conference.
The launch was also attended by three Kashmiri Pandit business stalwarts Dr Ashok Kaul from Ottawa Canada; Moti Kaul from Mumbai, India; and Uday Chalu from Gurugram.
