Sanjana Sanghi, who made one of the most promising film debuts last year with Mukesh Chhabra’s Dil Bechara opposite Sushant Singh Rajput, is making one leap after another. After an emotionally-draining film as her big opening act in Bollywood, the actress dived deep into an action-drama titled Om with Aditya Roy Kapur. Buzz is that she is also likely to lead the cast of Munjha, the third film in the horror-comedy franchise backed by Dinesh Vijan (he had also backed Stree and Roohi) among other films. While she’s making swift moves, she’s also aware that the industry is brimming with breakthrough performers who have emerged from the content on digital platforms.
Talking about how she perceives this current state of affairs in the industry, Sanjana says, “I was discussing this with my colleagues recently. I believe that there could have been no better time for one to be an actor than now. When I watch the shows and movies that are being made right now, I feel proud that we have achieved such a huge development, such a huge change in this industry. There is so much brilliance around me that I feel motivated to do even better. Today, all I want to do is look around and feel great that someone nailed a difficult role with a great degree of nuance and finesse. It just means all this content and all such roles are being written, and it’s possible that actors can have so many options to choose from. Braver stories, path-breaking ideas and new styles of execution are all being brought in and being accepted by the audience. It’s a great change. In the last year alone, we have seen so many wonderful, and delightfully different shows and films. It’s a sign that we are artistically advancing and we are open to narrating so many different kinds of stories. I love everything about this phase.”
